Fall Preview - Get the scoop on Fall TV Shows
Superman's teen years as Clark Kent find him agonizing over his shy, uncertain persona while dealing with his evolving powers and an infatuation with classmate Lana Lang. Crisply paced and cast with appealing performers, `Smallville' is not at all campy and is often surprisingly moving as a conventional coming-of-age drama; it succeeds in adding creative twists to the young hero's life without compromising the adult pop icon's legend.
  • Exclusive: Smallville Takes Villainy to the Maxima | Today's News: Our Take | 8/20/2008
The CW's Smallville has landed the second half of its upcoming villainous one-two punch. Charlotte Sullivan, who recently starred in the Canadian series/SOAPnet import MVP, is coming on board as Maxima, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively. The arrival of Maxima, who will debut in the season's fourth episode, gives Tom Welling's Clark Kent two new toughies to deal with, coupled with Sam Witwer's imminent introduction as Davis Bloom a.k.a. Doomsday. Who/what/from where is Maxima? According to the Wiki/Superman canon, she's the oldest child of the royal family of the planet Almerac. (Random anagram alert: Caramel!) Her purpose on Earth is to find a suitable mate — which more than explains why she finds herself in a liplock with not one, but two Smallville gents shortly after her arrival!Maxima and Superman are genetically compatible, meaning she can give him what no Earth woman (save for Kate Bosworth?) can — children. Her powers historically have included mind control,... read more
  • Mega Buzz on Lost, Grey's, CSI: Miami and More! | Today's News: Our Take | 8/6/2008
Senior editors Matt Webb Mitovich and Mickey O'Connor answer your questions!I know Skaters and Jaters are asking about their Lost couples, but please don't ignore us Jacketeers! Is there hope for a Jack-Juliet reunion? – TamunaMatt: Hope? Sure. It's just a matter of where (back on the island, I can only assume) and when (perhaps as early as this coming season, at least one source tells me). And for those fretting about Elizabeth Mitchell's future with the show, I am assured that Juliet figures very heavily into Season 5. Me, I see her and Sawyer (wet and shirtless or even dry and clothed) taking charge as Locke and his band of worshippers move forth with whatever cockamamy plan they have in mind. Can you give me any Grey's Anatomy scoop about Meredith and Derek? – BryanMatt: The good news: They're together! The bad news: Do either of them have any idea what "together" means? Not really. So when the action picks back up, they'll be trying to figure out how being a mutually... read more
  • Smallville Exclusive: A Kiss Before Flying? | Today's News: Our Take | 8/5/2008
This season on the CW's Smallville, Clark will go to work at the "Daily Planet," where he'll bump desks with Lois Lane. The predestined set-up understandably has some fans already lobbying for a lip-lock.Well, there's one coming.Sources whisper to me that in this season's fifth episode, titled "Committed," Clark and Lois will be "forced" to make like lovebirds as they investigate some strange goings-on involving a crazy guy and a Moment of Truth-esque lie detector "game." It is in the course of this bit of harrowing, shoe-leather reporting that the "Daily" duo find themselves engaged in a smooch. How real is their clinch? You'll have to wait and see and fiercely debate decide for yourselves. After all, let's not forget that these two have macked on each other before — namely, once when Lo mistook CK for the Green Arrow, and again when she was under the influence of that drugged lipstick. But perhaps the third time is the charm? Oh, and the "flying" reference in my headline?... read more
  • VIDEO: Is Super Sex in Clark and Lois' Future? | Today's News: Our Take | 7/31/2008
In the wake of the exits of Al Gough and Miles Millar, the CW's Smallville now has four show runners — and Erin Fox spoke to them all at Comic-Con. In this first video, Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer offer up, among other juicy sound bites, this take on Clark and Lois, who soon will be rubbing notepads at the "Daily Planet": "We've played Clark and Lois as brothers and sister... but this season, things change. [Working together] they can't deny that there are feelings there. The romantic banter, à la Moonlighting... the fans are going to love it."But will said banter necessarily lead to the boudoir? Look for that answer at the 2:45 mark. Then, in this video with Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson, there is the promise of this season getting closer than ever to the Superman mythology. We also get confirmation that Lana will resurface "at the worst possible moment for Clark's personal life." As for Chloe, the execs also say (at the 1;20 mark) that "certain things bubble up"... read more
