Season 4 of The Office may have been cut short due a small hiccup in the entertainment industry known as the writers' strike, but the Dunder Mifflin crew did not disappoint. The four-disc set includes 14 episodes (five are full-hour specials which helps make up for the fact that it's a short... read more

Hey Office friends! We are back in production! Season 5 has begun. It's going really well. I am mean it! I am not that drunk. I want to pass along a letter from my friend and co worker, the great Rainn Wilson. I don't normally pimp people out but Rainn is very persuasive, making just a few threats. (Just ask the kidnapped Jenna Fischer.)DEAR FRIENDS AND FAMILYWednesday, August 20th, is a truly historic day. • VIDEO: What Would Dwight Schrute Watch? | Today's News: Our Take | 8/6/2008
Yes, Dwight Schrute watches television — and he's got a lot of opinions about it. At the Teen Choice awards, Schrute's real-life alter ego, Rainn Wilson, divulged what his Office character would tune into, and it's not all sci-fi (though Battlestar Galactica is, of course, on the list). According to Wilson, Schrute opts for anything about bears and for the manlier programs out there, much like Michael Scott might. read more

  • Rainn Wilson: A Dwangela Baby Would Be "Awesome" | Today's News: Our Take | 7/22/2008
Out promoting The Rocker, a big-screen comedy in which he plays a coulda-been metal-band star (hitting theaters Aug. 20), Rainn Wilson set the record straight on what NBC's spin-off of The Office is, and what it isn't.First clarifying an old rumor that his Dwight was to front the follow-up, Wilson explained why that was never the case: "No. 1, they would never break up a formula that's already working. No. 2, they cast Amy Poehler [as the lead]. And No. 3, it's not going to be a spin-off per... read more
  • Fall Season Press Tour: Flying Blind With NBC | Roush Dispatch | 7/22/2008
After sitting through NBC’s frustrating and un-illuminating final day of official press tour Monday—there are a few set visits scheduled on Tuesday before whoever’s left heads for home (or in some cases Comic-Con over the weekend)—I’m tempted to say that TCA saved the worst for last. More like saving the least for last. It’s unprecedented in my memory of press tour for so many networks to screen so little of their new fall programming, but NBC really took the booby... read more

  • Amy Poehler Applying for Office Job? | Today's News: Our Take | 7/16/2008
Saturday Night Live vet Amy Poehler is said to be in talks to front the spin-off of NBC's The Office, currently slated for a midseason premiere. I say currently because, as the Reporter notes, pregnant Poehler is due in the fall, so some schedule rejiggering may be necessary. Thus far, outside of a deal to include comedian Aziz Ansari in the cast, nearly nothing is known as to the concept of the spin-off.Both NBC and Poehler's reps declined comment on the trade's story. Me, I think it's a match... read more

  • Amy Ryan Punches Back in at The Office | Today's News: Our Take | 6/30/2008
Amy Ryan, who had a small role in The Office's season finale as new HR manager Holly, will be back in the fall. Ryan has signed on for five episodes, perhaps indicating that Michael's unrequited (as well as immediate and inappropriate) love for Holly will not end well, despite his attempts to "take it slow."Prior to appearing on The Office, Ryan was best known for her dark turn on HBO's The Wire and her Oscar-nominated performance as a drug-addicted mother who loses her child in Gone Baby Gone.... read more

  • Office Spin-off Makes its First Hire | Today's News: Our Take | 6/13/2008
The producers of NBC's The Office spin-off have made their first casting hire, and it's Aziz Ansari of MTV's Human Giant. "We met him pretty early on and thought he was very funny," exec producer Greg Daniels tells Variety. "[W]e have a good character for him."The spin-off's premise has yet to be finalized, as producers still are sorting through several ideas. Premise: NBC version of the hit British mockumentary about lackluster daily life at a paper-supply company, overseen by a clueless incompetent with an inflated self-image. His staff includes his arrogant, driven kiss-up assistant; a likable but bored sales rep who amuses himself by getting on the assistant's nerves; and the personable receptionist who bears the brunt of the boss' bad jokes.
