Sabotage
[1939, Movie, NR, 69 mins]
Sabotage: Review
Another in a large batch of WW II films that waved the flag and called for preservation of the "American Way." In this picture, the spies are from no specific country--but with names like Barsht and Kruger, it's easy to figure out where they're supposed to be from. When a plane crashes during a test, killing three on board, townsfolk accuse the aircraft engineer, Oliver, of sabotaging the plane and working for spies. This prompts Oliver's father, Grapewin, to investigate the matter himself and uncover the real spy ring. He gives the community a piece of his mind, telling them off about their rash, so-called patriotic judgments. Unfortunately, the script is a little too heavy-handed in spouting its American-way propaganda.
