Ustinov is a cruel slum landlord who has a curse put on him by a man who sells fairy tales. He becomes a dog, and the curse will only be broken when someone loves him. He is befriended by Calvo, and when the dog sees one of his tenants being swindled out of her inheritance he eats the
money. Calvo can't forgive the dog, but the dog makes up for his action when he saves Calvo from a group of thugs. The young boy professes his love for the dog, the spell is broken, and Ustinov turns over a new leaf.
