While The Great Debaters dominated the film categories at Thursday's NAACP Image Awards — it turned eight nods into a quartet of wins (including best motion picture and acting kudos for Denzel Washington and Jurnee Smollett) — Tyler Perry's House of Payne and Grey's Anatomy emerged as the most-lauded TV series. Grey's walked away with drama series and writing team honors, while Chandra Wilson scored best supporting actress. TBS' House of Payne, meanwhile, was named best comedy series, while LaVan Davis and Lance Gross won for lead and supporting actor in a comedy, respectively. In the other TV races, Ugly Betty's America Ferrera and Vanessa Williams won for lead and supporting comedy actress; CSI: NY's Hill Harper and The Unit's Regina Taylor copped the top prizes on the drama side; and House's Omar Epps took home the supporting actor/drama trophy. read more be the first to leave a comment

  • Full House? | Today's News: Our Take | 5/30/2007
With all three interns leaving the nest of Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital in last night's House season finale, will the hospital hallways be empty next season? Quite the contrary, the show's producers hinted to TV Guide at a recent press conference. Though Executive Producer Katie Jacobs pointed out that fellowships only last three years, Omar Epps has already said he'll be returning to the show. Fans are hoping Jennifer Morrison and Jesse Spencer will also be back. But are new cast members in the cards as well? "We do want to open up the world a little bit," says Executive Producer David Shore. "A large chunk of the fun of the show is House relating to people and people playing off House. The broader and wider we can make that the better."Shore says things are up in the air at the moment, but could House turning to Cuddy’s bevy of students for answers in the finale be a clue as to what and whom viewers can expect to see by his side next season? Stay tuned — by... read more be the first to leave a comment

  • First, an observation. I ... | Matt Roush | 6/16/2006
Question: First, an observation. I liked the trivia of the doctors on Lost and Grey's Anatomy with the same last name, but I wonder if anybody noticed the two Fox network characters with the same name. Both That 70s Show's Topher Grace and House's Omar Epps play(ed) Eric Foreman. But anyway, I do have a question. With the FCC upholding its fines of network TV for the Jackson-Timberlake incident and the Without a Trace episode placing the emphasis on stigmatizing sexual content, doesn't anybody find the sick-out factor on the season finale of House to be more in conflict with "standards of decency"? I love the show (although I usually only watch the second half, after my favorite medical show, Scrubs), but I find the sight of an eyeball-popping, testicle-exploding, gut-ripping bloody mess much more disturbing than a bare breast. What do you think? Answer: First off, officially Fox's Erics spell their last names differently: Forman (70s Show) and Foreman (House). Secondly,... read more be the first to leave a comment
